Song:”The Truth”
C.D.:”Voyage To India”

Spoken : Let me tell you why I love him

Cause he is the truth
Said he is so real
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him then I must be fly because
His light it shines so bright I wouldn’t lie no

Verse 1:
I remember the very first day that I saw him
I found myself immediately intrigued by him
It’s almost like I knew this man from another life
Like back then maybe I was his husband maybe he was my wife
And even, things I don’t like about him are fine with me
Cause it’s not hard for me to understand him cause he’s so much like me
And it’s truly my pleasure to share his company
And I know that it’s God’s gift to breathe
The air he breathes

Cause he is the truth
Said he is so real
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him then I must be fly because
His light it shines so bright I wouldn’t lie (no)ohhhhhhhhh!

Verse 2:
How can the same man that makes me so mad
Do you know what he did-(Spoken)
Turn right around and kiss me so soft
Girl do you know what he did-(Spoken)
If he ever left me I wouldn’t even be sad no
Cause there’s a blessin’ in every lesson
And I’m glad that I knew him at all

Cause he is the truth
Said he is so real
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him then I must be fly because
His light it shines so bright no

Bridge, Break-down, & Ending :
I love the way he speaks
I love the way he thinks
I love the way that he treats his mama
I love that gap in between his teeth
I love him in every way that a woman can love a man
From personal to universal but most of all
It’s unconditional

You know what I’m talking about-(Spoken)
That’s the way I feel
And I always will-(Spoken)

There ain’t no substitute for the truth
Either it is or isn’t
(Cause he is the truth)
You see the truth it needs no proof
Either it is or it isn’t
(Cause he is the truth)
Now you know the truth by the way it feels
And if I am a reflection of him then I must be fly
Because he is, yes he is
I wonder does he know -Echoes

Relaxer and Hair Loss – “My Hair Use To Be That Long!!!!!”

Relaxer and Hair Loss

– “My Hair Use To Be That Long!!!!!”hairrrrr

I have two beautiful stepdaughters and every time we go out I hear women say “My hair use to be that long.” Sometimes I just want to say ‘yeah right’ because their hair be hanging on with a piece of string and bubble gum. But after seeing the movie “Good Hair” by Chris Rock. I believe that some of those women are telling the truth. But some of them know they be lying.

What a Perm does to your Hair?????hair2

Perm also known as Relaxer can cause hair breakage, hair thinning, lack of hair growth, scalp irritation, scalp damage and hair loss. These are just some of the complaints that I hear from my friends.

BECAUSE………. Relaxer  contains a chemical called Sodium Hydroxide also known as Lye.

Sodium Hydroxide is found in many industrial solvents and cleaners, including flooring stripping products, brick cleaners, cements, and many others.

It may also be found in certain household products, including:

  • Aquarium products
  • Clinitest tablets
  • Drain cleaners
  • Metal polishes
  • Oven cleaners

So while Relaxer makes your hair look good, it damages your hair and your scalp, which causes your hair not to grow healthy.

Don’t get me wrong! I’m not against getting a relaxer, because I use to get them when I was a teenager (I got tired of getting burnt by the hot comb). Plus, my mom didn’t know how to do my type of hair. But – I refuse to get a relaxer now.

I just decide to take that extra time to blow dry and flat iron my hair. And perform the correct hair care for my type of hair. But I know that everyone’s hair is different.

However, the next time I hear some lady say “My Hair Use To Be That Long“, I’m going to ask Her does she know what Relaxer does to the hair??????? And tell her that she needs to go see “Good Hair” by: Chris Rock.

The Father and His Son

oct 233

The Father and His Son

When the door opens up at 6:15

He runs to his dad waiting to get picked up impatiently.

He wants to sit on his lap at the dinner table to eat his food.

Even though this little boy is only one, he loves his dad so much that he tries to walk in his shoes.

It is a beautiful thing to see how much this little boy admires his dad.

Even when his father disciplines him and makes him sad.

So I had to write a short little blog to honor this man I love.

For all the love that he shows our precious little son.

If it is straight, curly, long or short.
If it is perm, naturally, braided or dreads.
If it is glued in, sewed in, colored or a wig.
No matter if we are African American ,Caucasian, Spanish or Asian.
We all have the same problems. We all share a Sisterly bond.

We are always trying new hairdo’s and hair products. Trying to get that perfect hair we see on our favorite celebrities.

But have we, as women, taken this hair thing too far?

I was watching the Tyra Bank’s show a few weeks ago and they had a Episode on there where they had kids talking about their hair.  I was sad, by the end of the show, to know that some kids didn’t like how they looked because of their hair.

Some of these kids had short hair and some of them had very long hair. Some of their mothers were taking them to the salon to get weave sewn-in and perms.

I was like – what age is too young to get a perm and a sew-in weave?

Are we that obsessed with our own hair that we have to put our hair beliefs on our children. If so, we need to take a look in the Mirror and fix what is inside of us that is broken.

In the famous song of India Arie:
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am not your expectations no no
I am not my hair
I am not this skin
I am a soul that lives within

Maybe we need to live by these words.  Our HAIR shouldn’t make us are break us. We can be beautiful with it, but we are also beautiful without. Love yourself just the way you ARE.

Mommy to Mommy

When becoming a mother, sometimes you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Not only do you have to care for yourself, but now you have this little tiny person depending on you to care for them also. And you don’t have time to make mistakes— at least that is what people tell you.

But to be honest, you’re going to make many mistakes.

Like getting the wrong size diapers….
Leaving the house without the baby bag…
Running out of milk …and the list goes on and on.

So, don’t feel bad when little things like that happen, because we all go through it as new and old mothers.

Babies don’t come with an instruction manual like a TV or a computer. So we have to learn as we go. And just because one person tells you what is right for their baby – that doesn’t mean it is right for yours.

All babies are different and develop and advance at different rates. So just love your baby the best way you know how to and your child would love you back.
